Storm protection with everyday comfort and design

Impact windows and doors combine laminated glass, reinforced frames and anchored systems designed to protect the home’s openings from windborne debris and pressure changes during severe storms.

Carpediem coordinates the opening assessment, style selection, measurements, proposal, permitting, installation and final inspection. Each project is planned around the home’s architecture, local requirements and the homeowner’s priorities.

More than hurricane protection

A properly selected and installed system can improve the home’s security, comfort, efficiency and appearance throughout the year.

Storm protection

Impact-rated products help protect openings from debris, wind pressure and storm-driven rain according to the product’s tested rating.

Everyday security

Laminated glass and reinforced hardware add another barrier against forced entry and accidental breakage.

Comfort and efficiency

Low-E glass options and high-performance frames can reduce heat transfer and help reduce strain on the air-conditioning system.

Less noise and UV exposure

Laminated glass can reduce some outdoor noise and help limit sunlight damage to furniture, flooring and interior finishes.

Options for every opening in your home

Configurations are selected around opening size, ventilation, view, everyday use, architectural style and product-approval requirements.

Horizontal sliding windows

Practical horizontal operation for bedrooms, living spaces and rooms where simple ventilation matters.

Single-hung, casement and picture windows

Options for ventilation, wide views, efficiency and distinctive architectural details.

Entry and French doors

Impact-resistant systems with glass, panel, sidelite and finish options that improve security and curb appeal.

Sliding patio doors

Large views and outdoor access with frames, rollers, locks and glass designed for coastal use.

My Safe Florida Home

My Safe Florida Home support

Carpediem works with homeowners participating in My Safe Florida Home and can help prepare the project scope and contractor documentation after the homeowner receives the required approvals.

  • The program’s initial inspection identifies recommended hurricane-mitigation improvements for the home.
  • Opening protection may include specific windows, doors, garage doors and skylights recommended in the inspection report.
  • Matching grants may reimburse $2 for every $1 contributed by the homeowner, up to a maximum state contribution of $10,000, subject to funding and eligibility.
  • Do not sign a contract, purchase materials or begin work before receiving the program’s written authorization to proceed.

Options to plan the investment

In addition to possible mitigation programs, Carpediem can review financing options for eligible homeowners. Payments, rates, terms and approval depend on the provider and credit. An assessment does not obligate the homeowner to proceed.

What do we review during the assessment?

Every project starts with basic information about the home and the openings the homeowner wants to improve.

Property type and project address
Approximate number and size of windows and doors
Style, color, ventilation and glass preferences
Condition of frames, stucco and surrounding areas
Permit, product-approval and wind-zone requirements
Eligibility for financing or available programs

Entry doors, French doors, sliding patio doors, doors with sidelites and other approved residential configurations can be evaluated.

Yes. A project may be completed in phases, although insurance discounts or mitigation programs may have specific report and carrier requirements.

No. A free inspection is not grant approval. Eligibility, prioritization, recommended improvements and funding are determined by the state program.

They may support mitigation credits when requirements are met, but only the insurance carrier determines discounts and premiums. Consult your agent or carrier.
